Rural Ghosts was first conceived in 2008 by Erik Neilson in the small ocean-side city of Portland, ME.

In March of 2012, a handful of songs that had existed for years were finally released in the form of the Rural Ghosts EP. Within days of its release, the Rural Ghosts EP received rave reviews from reputable print/online publications such as Obscure Sound, Slowcoustic and Dispatch Magazine among many others.

Haunting, deeply personal and reflective of the area in which it was produced, the EP conjures images of the mysterious North Woods of Maine, all the while remaining intensely humanistic. This is music for when the sun has gone down and only the sound of insects can be heard.

Within a month’s time, the limited run of 92 handmade physical copies quickly sold out; the EP is now only available digitally, with an expanded re-release slated for Spring 2014.
